Training is an important part of learning to become an effective leader. The important scouting position you hold will be easier and more effective once you develop the skills necessary to deliver a quality scouting program every Scout desires. Every youth member of Scouting deserves a Trained Leader.
The Pacific Harbors Council provides training courses for every position in Scouting. The information below will help you find the courses you need for your current or future position, when they are scheduled, and contact information if you have questions about training courses offered in your area.

Chartered Organization Representative Training
This course is intended to provide Charted Organization Representatives with an introduction to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful unit program. On-Line or Instructor led.
Youth Protection Training
This course is required for all registered adults and must be taken annually. Adults not registered with Scouting America are required to complete this course before attending any Scout camping activities. On-Line.
Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster Position Specific Training
This course is intended to provide Cubmasters with the information and tools they need to successfully lead a Cub Scout pack. Cubmasters and assistants who complete this training and Youth Protection training are considered “trained” for both positions. On-Line or Instructor led.
Den Leader Position Specific Training
This course is intended to provide Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and Arrow of Light den leaders with the information and tools they need to conduct successful den meetings. Den leaders who complete the training and Youth Protection training are considered trained for all three positions. On-Line or Instructor led.
Pack Committee Position Specific Training
The Pack Committee training is designed for pack committees and is the course pack committee members need complete to be considered “trained.” On-Line or Instructor led.
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training
The course is intended to provide troop leadership with the information and tools they need to lead successful Scouts BSA troops. Scoutmasters and assistants who complete this training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), and Youth Protection training are considered “trained.” On-line or Instructor led
Troop Committee Position Specific Training
The Troop Committee Training is designed for troop committees and along with Youth Protection training, troop committee members need to be considered “trained.” On-Line or Instructor led.
Venturing Advisor Position Specific Training
The course is intended to provide an introduction to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful Venturing crew leadership experience. This course will give adult Venturing leaders the tools to”
Venturing Advisors who complete this training and Venturing Youth Protection Training are considered “trained”. Instructor led.
Crew Committee Position Specific Training
The Crew Committee Training is designed for crew committee members and along with the Venturing version of Youth Protection training, crew committee members need to be considered “trained.” On-Line or Instructor led.
